Fun activities for families to enjoy this summer across Nottinghamshire

With the summer school holidays fast approaching, Nottinghamshire County Council has unveiled its ‘top picks’ for activities to do this summer.

There are lots of exciting activities and events happening across the county.

Councillor Scott Carlton, Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health, at Nottinghamshire County Council, said:

“This summer is the perfect time to explore what Nottinghamshire has to offer. Whether you are looking to get outdoors and explore one of our many country parks, or looking to take part  in the free Summer Reading Challenge at local libraries, you are sure to find something that all the family will enjoy.

“After the huge success of previous Nottinghamshire Day celebrations, our County Day festivities are back again this year. I am delighted that this special event will return to Sherwood Forest, the home of the county’s legendary outlaw, Robin Hood, on Sunday 25 August. I’m lucky enough to live nearby so I know the area very well and am pleased that so many others will enjoy the wonderful Sherwood Forest during this Notts Day event.

“We always look forward to Nottinghamshire Day as a chance to celebrate our diverse county and its people. Once again, the line-up is fantastic. Activities include retellings of the tales of Robin Hood, archery and even medieval music performances. This event is definitely not one to miss.”
