‘Garden full’ of stolen motorbikes found in Edwalton after aborted police chase in West Bridgford

Three teenagers have been arrested after officers pursued a suspected stolen motorcycle and found a garden full of bike parts in West Bridgford.

Officers on patrol in Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, spotted the bike being ridden by two people around 3.20 pm on Sunday (3 March).

The passenger was holding a push bike and when officers began to follow, it was thrown into the path of the pursuing police vehicle.

Neither of the people on the motorcycle was wearing a helmet, so officers decided to abort the pursuit for their safety and that of other road users.

Intelligence linked the incident to an address in Edwalton and when officers arrived at the house they discovered the stolen bike from the earlier incident in the back garden.

They also found three other suspected stolen motorcycles, in various states of repair.

Two suspects inside the home were detained and a third was also arrested after he was found hiding in a neighbouring garden.

Two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop and conspiring to steal a motor vehicle.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and conspiring to steal a motor vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Laurence Bird, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was a great bit of work by officers who understood the dangers involved in continuing a pursuit and instead used their knowledge of the intelligence to trace the offenders and find these stolen motorbikes.

“We take motor vehicle crime extremely seriously and treat it as a priority because we know the impact it can have on people who rely on cars, vans and motorbikes to get around.

“Anyone who believes stolen vehicles are being handled, dismantled or used for criminal purposes in their neighbourhood should get in touch with police.”
