General Election: The Militant Elvis Anti-HS2 Party manifesto is launched

Public lavatories should also be re-opened throughout Broxtowe, frogs and sparrows should be saved from extinction, and conductors should be introduced on trams, the party believes.

It just wouldn’t be an election without Dave Bishop and his Bus Pass Elvis Party.

The serial candidate from Nottingham has contested in countless local and national elections since 1997.

This time around he’s standing in the high-profile seat of Broxtowe, under the banner ‘Militant Elvis Anti HS2’.

In previous elections, he’s stood for the Bus Pass Elvis Party, the Elvis Defence League, and the Militant Elvis Anti-Tesco Popular Front.

Mr Bishop, also known as Lord Biro, had said the General Election in 2017 would be his last, but has now decided to contest at least one more.

Now, the manifesto has been published – with a wide and eye-catching range of pledges.

These include scrapping High Speed 2, the controversial train line which is set to stop at Toton. Lord Biro says he has the support of Santa on that policy.

Public lavatories should also be re-opened throughout Broxtowe, frogs and sparrows should be saved from extinction, and conductors should be introduced on trams, the party believes.

The manifesto says: “The closure of the public toilet next to Beeston Bus Station is a disgrace.

“The councillors responsible should be put up an alley against a wall and peed on by the voters.”

It adds: “Our party calls on the cops to crack down on cyclists who whizz along the pavements like Bradley Wiggins.

“All Shook Up About your pets medical bills? When elected our candidate would like to crack down on greedy vets.

“No fracking under Sherwood Forest. Phase-out factory farming!

“Free neutering for stray cats and Boris Johnson!”

On the key issue of Brexit, he says: “Our party thinks if there is a 2nd referendum they should adopt our ballot paper: In the EU; Out of the EU; or Pretend to Leave But Stay In.”

And there’s a final promise to nationalise brothels and pay sex workers a state wage.
