Gold chain snatched from victim’s neck in Bulwell

A victim was reunited with a sentimental gold chain minutes after calling 999.

The victim called police after the chain was snatched from his neck in Main Street, Bulwell, shortly after 11 am on Wednesday (26 June).

Response officers arrived within minutes and, following inquiries at the scene, found a suspect hiding in an outhouse at the back of a property on Muriel Street.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

The team of officers searched the outhouse and found the gold chain, much to the relief of the victim.

Sergeant Alex Piggott, who leads the officers involved in the arrest, said:

“This was fantastic work by our response team.

“By arriving quickly at the scene, they were able to quickly locate the suspect.

“The gold chain was very sentimental to the victim and he was very relieved to be reunited with it.

“A 44-year-old man was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

“I hope this robust police response reassures the local community that we treat incidents such as this extremely seriously.”
