West Bridgford Conservative Club is holding its popular Grand Spring Charity Fayre this Saturday 4th May from 1pm to 3.30pm at its clubhouse at 28 Rectory Road, West Bridgford.
All proceeds from stalls will be donated to the Trent District Community First Responders which the Club is supporting throughout the whole of 2018 and 2019. Last year, the Club raised over £4,000 for the charity.
Club Secretary, Peter Brunger, said “Each year the club supports a worthy local charity and members work long and hard to raise money through a number of events. This year we are once again delighted to be supporting Trent District Community First Responders who do so much to help the community.
“These volunteers are trained by, and work closely alongside, East Midlands Ambulance Service and respond in their spare time, unpaid, to answer 999 medical emergencies within their local communities. During busy periods they can often reach patients faster than an ambulance, particularly those living in rural areas, and this can make all difference to the outcome.
“The team operates as a registered charity and it must purchase all its own specialist, and very expensive, medical equipment. At present, it costs around £1000 to fully equip each individual First Responder”.
The fayre is open to everyone. Visitors can meet some of the First Responders team first hand and go on to enjoy a range of games and side stalls including a tombola, a special children’s tombola, roll-a-coin, ‘pot luck’ and ‘lucky mugs’. There will also be stalls selling home made cakes, clothing and garden plants. In addition, tickets will be on sale for the ‘grand raffle’ which includes a wide variety of great prizes including Champagne, wines and spirits, a hot stones back massage, supermarket and garden centre vouchers, cosmetics and much, much more.
A licenced bar, coffee, afternoon teas, soft drinks and snacks will all be available.
West Bridgford Conservative Club has been an important part of the social fabric of the area for around 50 years and currently has around 300 members. The extensive facilities include two large air conditioned bars with free WiFi serving a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including real ales, three high quality, full-sized snooker tables, a pool table and a darts board. There is live music most Saturday nights with free entrance for members. Bingo, table tennis and games nights are held at other times. The Club always welcomes new applications for membership.
In addition, it provides rooms for hire at very competitive rates in a centrally located and well equipped venue with car parking for business meetings and private functions, either serviced or unserviced. The Club continues to enjoy a top ‘Five Star’ food hygiene rating and a variety of buffets can be provided to order.
The club also holds a popular coffee morning every Monday from 10am until noon which is open both to members and non-members alike. Everyone is welcome and tea, coffee and a selection of inexpensive brunch items are always available.
