“My vision is that Greythorn is recognized in the community as the wonderful school that it is, where children achieve well academically, – but also develop as whole people.

“I am passionate about children learning to love learning, rather than be drilled to pass tests and I believe the primary phase should ignite their curiosity and give them the independence, motivation and confidence to become learners for life.”

Sally said that the school is confident that all their hard work will pay off. “I feel an immense sense of privilege to work with this amazing community of children and adults.  We have incredibly supportive parents who work with the school to ensure we create a warm and inclusive ethos.”

“I have been really encouraged by their positive comments since becoming Head Teacher.”

Sally says that the passion and dedication of the staff, pupils and parents is the key to driving progress.

“The children make me smile every day; they are always pleased to come to school and the positive approach to learning we are developing can be seen in their smiles and in their hard work and concentration in lessons.”

Greythorn Primary School is part of the esteemed Flying High Trust, and is on the trajectory to success says Trust CEO, Mr Chris Wheatley, “It is clear already that with support from the Flying High Trust that Greythorn is on a journey of real improvement. Sally MacDonald is adamant that the school will become an outstanding school and we are in no doubt that with Sally at the helm, Greythorn has the capacity to be a fantastic school for West Bridgford.”

Mrs MacDonald said that being part of the Trust means that every opportunity and expertise is on hand. “The Flying High Trust have offered a lot of support to help improve the school.  We have a school improvement partner from an outstanding school and lots of opportunities to share good practice across a wide range of schools in Nottinghamshire.

Along with this we also have Trust wide events which provide opportunities for our children to meet children from other schools and take part in arts and sports events and a pupil parliament.  The highlight will always be the Trust awards ceremony where the values of the trust and achievements of our children and staff are celebrated.  For me it’s great to work with like-minded people, people who are as committed to making primary education as excellent as I am.”

Sally said that this is the dawn of a new era for the school, “The school community can look forward to a commitment from me and from the Flying High Trust to make Greythorn one of the best schools in the universe!  A school where children are treated with kindness and respect, and where teachers work hard to make learning enjoyable.  A school where every child can be successful and learn the joy of learning.”
