Gridlock across the city after tram derailment

Road traffic conditions in the city centre this evening ( 6 Dec 8pm ) and across wider Nottingham are in gridlock after the earlier tram derailment. 

The collision between a van and a tram happened at around 2.45pm in University Boulevard, causing for people to be injured.

The derailed tram has blocked University Boulevard, which is closed in both directions and all road traffic has been diverted.

The road is expected to remain closed well into this evening – traffic is at a standstill across Nottingham.

NCT said on Twitter: “In my eight years of providing updates, I’ve never seen delays on our network as severe as we’re currently experiencing.

“Our most delayed bus is currently two hours 12 minutes behind where it should be. Given the severity of delays, if you do not need to travel, I suggest you don’t.”

AA traffic reports severe delays on most roads out of the city including, Trent Bridge and Radcliffe Road, Clifton Boulevard, Queen’s Drive and Colwick Loop Road.
