A man has been charged following reports that a group were threatened with a weapon in Nottingham.
Police were called to Angel Row, Nottingham city centre, after it was reported that a gun had been pointed at a man and his friends following an altercation just after 4.45pm on Saturday (19 March 2022).
Officers stopped a man, conducted enquiries and following the search of a property they recovered four BB guns and ammunition.
Jordy Lloyd, 50, of Berridge Road Central, Forest Fields, has since been charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (22 March 2022) and has been remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday 19 April 2022.
Detective Sergeant Lee Cattell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Reports of firearms incidents are always treated with the utmost seriousness and will always attract a robust response which will likely involve specially trained firearms officers.
“This includes reports of imitation firearms being used.
“Despite these being replicas, they very often look like the real thing and cause a significant amount of distress and concern for those who are involved in incidents involving them and those who witness such incidents.
“A man has now been charged following this incident and our investigation remains ongoing. Local officers continue to be visible in the area and available to talk to, and we hope this and the swift action taken offers some reassurance to the public.”
