Gunfire heard on a Nottingham residential street

Police were called to a residential street after gunshots were reported.

Officers responded to Bilborough Road, Bilborough, shortly after 10am yesterday (Monday) morning.

No injuries were reported but officers have been conducting a thorough search of the scene to look for evidence.

A 28-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate. He remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Firearms incidents are treated with the utmost seriousness and all reports are very thoroughly investigated.

“Officers have been conducting a thorough search of this area over the last 24 hours and will remain in the area for much of the rest of the day as we work to understand what happened.

“I urge anyone with additional information to contact us on 101 quoting incident 175 of 7 November 2022. We would particularly like to hear from motorists with dashcams who were in the area at the time.”
