Residents in Gunthorpe are appealing to drivers to pass carefully through Lowdham Road.
Nottinghamshire County Council are clear on driving through flood water, they said:
‘Closed means closed so please do not ignore the signs.
‘Just 30cm of flowing water is enough to move a vehicle so it’s always safer to find an alternative route.’

‘We’ve had a lot of reports of motorists ignoring road closure signs across the county, particularly in Gunthorpe.
‘We cannot stress enough that when close a road due to flooding, we do this for YOUR safety.
A resident said: ‘Lowdham Road is now closed from Lowdham roundabout to Gunthorpe Bridge. Please ask drivers to take care because of the damage bow waves cause to houses.’
‘The road has been closed to prevent sewage being pushed into homes.’
Nottinghamshire Police were at the scene earlier today directing traffic away from the area.
