Guru Nanak’s Mission cooks over 800 meals and donates toys for families in the city

Guru Nanak’s Mission over the festive period of 2021 will be cooking over 800 meals for Nottingham Forest Community Trust.

The meals will be distributed to children and families within the city, in addition the volunteers will be packing over 150+ food parcels that contain food essentials (such as cereals, jam, etc..) for families who would otherwise struggle over christmas.

Not only food, but this is the second year that the GNM Toy Bank has taken place – where toys have been donated by the local Nottingham community, and these have been sorted and packed, for children who otherwise would not have anything to open on Christmas Day.

The response for the Toy Bank has been phenomenal, with donations from schools such as Rushcliffe School & Nottingham High School, local companies and sports players such as Brennan Johnson (Nottingham Forest player) who, with other players, donated toys – to name a few.

Oh, and that’s not all….on Christmas Day, Guru Nanak’s Mission Volunteers will be at the local Sikh Temple, cooking over 100+ hot christmas meals! These hot meals are for those who will be struggling for food and in collaboration with other charities will be distributed to those who need it the most – on Christmas Day.
