Half term activities on offer at Green’s Windmill and Science Centre

Green’s Windmill announces activities to keep your children happy and engaged next week during the half-term holiday.

A spokesperson said:
‘Why not come along to Nottingham’s beautiful windmill, on the edge of the city, and see what the site has to offer.
‘You could walk from Sneinton Market, there is parking available, or you could catch the number 43 bus outside Victoria Centre, and it will drop you minutes away.’
Also, while donations are always welcome, entry is free for adults and children.
Rated 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor, Green’s Windmill and Science Centre  offers children, and adults alike, the opportunity to climb the windmill and see it in all its glory and also to discover the magic of science through interactive displays in our science centre.

There are several interactive yet educational displays at the centre designed to get children immersed in the world of science.
This also includes fun and engaging exhibits on how the weather can power the windmill. A rolling film tells the story of mathematical genius, George Green, and his experiments with light, electricity and magnetism that led to the invention of MRI scanning machines which are used in hospitals across the globe.
This week there are also a couple of paid for activities which might catch your eye including biscuit baking, bread baking and fruity cupcake baking for children of three-years and above at a price of £4.
If the Science Centre doesn’t catch your children’s attention, then why not check out the surrounding windmill and community gardens on site. The windmill, that was built in 1807, is one of a few traditional ones in the UK. It also has a playground to the front of the centre which features swings and two incredibly tall slides.
Jamie Duff, Green’s Windmill & Science Centre Heritage Development Officer, said:
“We welcome children and adults of all ages who will be thrilled to see inside the windmill and enjoy the many activities that we have here in the science centre.
“The baking sessions are extremely popular with children so be sure to call us in time to book in. Otherwise, please just come along and enjoy the free access to the science centre and windmill. You won’t regret it!”
