Having been gifted a beautiful Christmas Tree by Tollerton Parish Council, children and staff at Tollerton Primary School set about decorating it with a difference; instead of sparkly baubles, each child and member of staff wrote a Christmas wish, transforming it into a Wishmas Tree!
Headteacher Jon Wells said:
“Writing a wish gave everyone the opportunity to think more widely about the meaning of Christmas and it was genuinely heartwarming to read what had been written.
“Of course, we had some common themes; for Nottingham Forest to win the Premier League, for England to win the World Cup and for snow!
“Barbies and Lego got a few mentions too, but so many of the children had very considered and far-reaching wishes; for the homeless to find warmth, for the people of Ukraine to find peace, for people to care more for the environment and for more people to discover happiness and experience kindness.
“Our children truly ‘live’ our school values through their actions and words and I am proud to lead a school that consistently demonstrates kindness and care.”
