A spell of heavy rain is expected across central and southern England, as well as much of Wales, on Sunday morning.
The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for heavy rain on Sunday 27 January – the warning is in force from 8 am until 6 am on Monday morning.
This will be followed by heavy and possibly thundery showers. Rainfall totals of 10-20 mm are likely across many areas, with 30-50 mm possible over higher ground, particularly on south or southeast-facing slopes exposed to the weather.
Later on Sunday evening, there is a chance of another bout of heavy rain affecting parts of England and Wales, which may persist into the early hours of Monday. If this occurs, some locations could experience up to 80 mm of rain in total.
Given the recent wet conditions, this additional rainfall could result in localised surface water and river flooding.
