On Friday 7th June Heymann Primary and Nursery School is celebrating its 60th Birthday.

There will be lots of celebrations throughout the day ending with a community picnic at our KS2 site on Waddington Drive, West Bridgford.

At the picnic, there will be games provided by Premier Sport and live music by Ultra Lounge.

We have been very busy at school preparing for the celebrations. Every child has made their own birthday badge to wear and all the children have painted a stone to be placed around a ‘peace tree’ at each site.

Our link school in Sri Lanka is also creating ‘peace trees’, from trees planted during a visit by our Head Lynda Noble.

When they are completed, we will share photographs of the finished projects between the schools. During the day of birthday celebrations, we have invited some special guests to share in the fun.

They will be able to watch all the current staff and pupils perform the ‘Lindyhop’, a dance from the 1950s, and hear us sing our school song ‘Heymann we’re a team!’

They will also be able to see our display of photographs of Heymann through the ages in the school hall.

There have been many changes since our last big birthday 10 years ago.

The most notable is that the school has expanded to have three classes per year group.

In January 2014, our brand new KS1 building opened and our very first Nursery class began learning in their purpose-built classroom.

The new building has been carefully designed with excellent outdoor provision for Nursery and Reception, a very large hall and a sensory room that provides us with a quiet space for children who need it and those with additional needs.

The strong leadership and friendly staff team at Heymann have made the expansion as smooth and easy as possible. We are so lucky to be able to teach such wonderful children from the ages of 3 to 11.

If you have a connection to our fabulous school, and would like to join in with our birthday celebrations, please bring your own picnic to our KS2 site between 3:30 and 6pm on Friday 7th June.

If you require any further details please phone our school office on 0115 914 5035.
