Highways England: Apology issued for West Bridgford traffic gridlock

Highways England have told us that they are sorry for the traffic delays throughout this morning’s rush hour in and around West Bridgford, equipment breakdown was the cause of the issues.

There were delays of over an hour this morning as the part of an overnight maintenance scheme that is taking place along the A52 westbound Nottingham Knight to Clifton Bridge road overran.

This caused severe delays on the A60, A52 and A606.

The road re-opened at 09:35.

A Highways England spokesperson told The Wire: “We’re sorry that motorists encountered delays this morning. The repair team on-site worked through the night to complete the work as quickly as possible before the morning rush-hour.

“However, the resurfacing work was delayed because some equipment broke down which needed to be repaired.

Safety is our top priority and we needed to make sure that the road was in a safe condition before we could let people use it and this meant we had to do this today rather than leaving for the remainder of the overnight work. We’d like to thank motorists for their patience this morning.”
