Amy Gamble, a dispensing optician in West Bridgford, saved not just the day but a holiday when she saw a way to help an anxious customer. Now her actions have landed her an award.
When a Specsavers customer visited the contact lens department in the store on Central Avenue in June, she was hugely impressed by her experience.
She had torn her last pair of monthly contact lenses and was going on holiday the very next day, with her new supply not due to arrive for weeks. The prescription she needed wasn’t stocked in store and would have to be ordered in, taking a few days to arrive. It would leave her without lenses for her holiday.
‘I realised how upsetting it was for her and I know just how it feels to be without them, so I tried our other local stores to see if anyone else held her prescription,’ says Amy. ’Thank goodness one of them did.’ Amy arranged for the store to send them over by taxi straight away and her customer had the lenses she needed to enjoy the holiday sights.
Amy has been awarded a certificate of commendation in the Specsavers Customer First Awards for her first-class efforts. The awards celebrate great customer service across all Specsavers stores in the UK. She wasn’t the only one to be recognised, with the West Bridgford store scooping an amazing 10 out of the 25 awards presented last month.
