Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has sacked Suella Braverman, the home secretary, as he works on an expected reshuffle of the cabinet.
James Cleverly, the foreign secretary, is expected to replace Suella Braverman as home secretary.
Cleverly is said to have impressed Rishi Sunak as foreign secretary in his handling of both the Russia-Ukraine war and the Middle East crisis.
Two other ministers have been reshuffled so far — Neil O’Brien, a health minister, and Nick Gibb, a long-standing education minister.
In a statement Braverman said: “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary.”
She added: “I will have more to say in due course.”
