Homicide investigation launched after man’s body found at Nottinghamshire farm

Police are investigating after a body was found at a farm near Newark.

Officers were called to the address, off the A1133 in Langford, shortly after 10.15am on Saturday (22 November), where a 52-year-old man’s body was found in an outbuilding.

The death is not being treated as suspicious – but is believed to be linked to the disappearance of Brian Wright, who was reported missing from the area on Thursday 20 November.

Mr Wright, 82, remains missing but detectives have launched a homicide investigation after intelligence was received indicating he was deceased.

Search teams have been deployed to the area and we will provide further updates in due course.

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected by this tragic incident.

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this death is ongoing.

“However, I’d like to reassure members of the community that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. At this early stage, we believe all parties to be known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public.

“We would also ask the public to respect the privacy of family members at what is an incredibly difficult time for them. They are being supported by specially trained officers.

“We have also referred ourselves to the IOPC – a mandatory step because of officers’ previous contact with family members.

“Officers remain in the area to carry out a range of inquiries. Anyone with any concerns is encouraged to speak to an officer on duty.

“If anyone has any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101, quoting incident number 193 of 22 November 2025, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
