A UK joint action involving 11 city protest organisations, against the alleged attack on Hong Kong pro-democracy protesters on the Chinese Consulate grounds in Manchester took place in Nottingham.
Around 300 pro-democracy protesters held a sit-in protest at Old Market Square in Nottingham on Sunday morning ( 23 October ) to support the injured demonstrators in Manchester.
There were fears there could be more violence and security threat to overseas political dissidents.
One of the protest organisations, Nottingham Stands with Hong Kong, expressed the concern about the quashing of dissent outside of Chinese borders and Chinese global infiltration.
A parliamentary petition against Chinese dictatorship was launched.
The petition called for an independent committee to be set up to mitigate the risks of interference from the Chinese government.
The organisation said 374 signatures have been collected during the assembly.
