A sick horse was thrown from a sheep trailer and left to die on a Nottinghamshire country road.
Nottinghamshire Rural Police said that a passing driver witnessed the horse being thrown from a sheep trailer on Ricketts Lane, near Blidworth, on 14th February 2019.
Rescuers tried to save the animal but it died the next day.
Valentine was one of four horses found abandoned, dead or dying, across Nottinghamshire in the last four days said police.
In a tweet the force said:
‘Can you help our colleagues? 14/02/2019 at 6:30pm Abandoned horse found dumped on Ricketts Lane Blidworth. a young emaciated filly was seen being thrown from a sheep trailer that was being towed by a van, Any Inf101 ref: 725-14022019. Sadly the filly passed away the next day.’
Though not involved in this incident, West Bridgford horse rehabilitation centre wants people to know that if they have issues with horses, to call someone – if they can’t look after them, to please reach out to people that can help rather than let them suffer.
