Problem tenants have again been warned about the consequences of anti-social and criminal behaviour, after a closure order was issued for another property.
Nottinghamshire Police, responding to multiple complaints from local residents about drug-related crime and disorder, obtained a closure order for a property in St Mary’s Way, Hucknall.
The order, granted by magistrates on Tuesday last week, bans anyone from entering the property for a period of three months.
Anyone who breaches the order – including the previous occupants – will be committing a criminal offence and liable to a fine or imprisonment.
The news comes just a month after officers from the Ashfield Neighbourhood team, working in partnership with Ashfield District Council, secured closure orders for two other properties in Collins Avenue, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Inspector Jon Hewitt, district commander for Ashfield, said: “We are listening to residents’ concerns, and we are taking action. Drug related crime is a blight on our communities and we simply won’t tolerate certain addresses being used to commit these offences.
“This latest closure order came as a result of multiple complaints from local residents to local officers and councillors.
“Local residents are our eyes and ears out in the community and we absolutely want to know when they see behaviour like this near where they live.
“We may not be able to take immediate action, but we will work to generate the evidence we need to take firm and decisive action.”
