Hundreds to sleep rough for homeless people at the City Ground this November

Hundreds of people will spend a night sleeping rough at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground to raise money for local homeless people.

Framework, a charity providing support and accommodation for homeless people, will host its annual Big Sleep Out behind the Brian Clough Stand on the evening of Saturday, November 23rd.

Participants will brave a night in cardboard shelters in return for sponsorship from friends, families and colleagues. All money raised will go towards tackling rough sleeping locally – getting people off the streets, supporting them into accommodation, and empowering them to live stable, independent lives.

Framework operates a street outreach service in Nottingham and across Nottinghamshire to help people sleeping rough. Team members work directly with people on the streets to address the problems they are facing and provide the best possible solutions to their homelessness. Money raised at the Big Sleep Out will support this work.

Framework Fundraising Manager Andy Shields said: “This is our second consecutive year holding the Big Sleep Out at the City Ground. Last year was our most successful event yet and we are delighted to have the backing of Forest again this time.

“Dozens of people sleep rough in Nottingham every single night – in alleyways, doorways, tents, abandoned buildings and many other places besides.

Taking part in the Big Sleep Out is the perfect way for people to raise awareness of this issue and help us to tackle it. Every penny raised will be used by Framework to reach out to homeless people and get them off the streets.”

Nottingham Forest CEO, Ioannis Vrentzos said: “We are delighted to be hosting a second Big Sleep Out at The City Ground. We are determined to help raise awareness about homelessness in the city and hope our supporters and the people of Nottingham will again turn up in record-breaking numbers to help raise vital funds for our local charity partner Framework.”
