Image appeal after machete wielded in a Nottingham city street

Detectives have released an image of a man they wish to trace after a machete was brandished in the street.

Officers have already arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the incident but are trying to trace a man who could help them further their investigation.

The incident happened in Curzon Street Nottingham on Wednesday January 22 just before 5.30pm.

Two men have been seen arguing in the street before weapons including a machete were drawn. No injuries were sustained, and they left the scene.

Officers have carried out a number of lines of inquiry to locate those responsible which has included an extensive CCTV trawl.

One man, aged 18, was arrested in connection with the incident and remains on conditional bail while investigations continue.

Detectives have now released an image of a man they wish to trace who could help them further their inquiries. They are calling on the public’s help to identify him.

Detective Constable Chris Adams, who is investigating the incident, said:

“If these weapons had been used, the outcome could have been very different.

“We are taking this incident extremely seriously and have arrested a man.

“We have carried out multiple lines of inquiry to locate a man that could help us further our investigation but unfortunately so far, we have been unable to identify him.

“We are now in a position to release his image and hoping that the public can help us identify him.

“Do you know the man in the picture? Are you the man in the picture? Please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
