Image released after pickpockets target elderly victim in Nottingham shop

Police investigating the theft of a large sum of money have released images of two people they would like to speak with.

The 85-year-old victim was targeted by a pickpocket as he browsed items inside Poundland, in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, on 20 January.

The victim is believed to have been followed into the store by two people who’d seen him withdraw money from a nearby Lloyds bank.

The elderly man discovered the money was missing from his jacket pocket a short time later.

After extensive local enquiries officers have now released images of two people they would like to speak with in connection with the theft.

“We would like to speak to the people captured in these images and urge anyone who recognises them to come forward immediately.

“I would also advise anyone withdrawing large sums of cash to be wary of those around them, particularly anyone making physical contact with them – even if this appears to be accidental.”

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 311 of 20 January 2026.
