Police are investigating after a bus driver was punched in the face after asking a customer to leave the bus.

He asked the passenger to leave as they were reportedly being abusive towards another passenger.

The driver was then punched several times.

Police are continuing with their inquiries into the assault and are working hard to catch the person responsible.

It happened on the Green 6 bus, at the Victoria Embankment bus stop, in Nottingham, shortly after 2.15pm on Monday 20 November 2023.

To help them with their inquiries, officers have released a CCTV image of a person they would like to identify and speak to in connection with the incident.

The person was wearing a blue lanyard and is believed to have been in possession of a red phone/red phone case.

PC Jodie Ferrol, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an unprovoked assault on a man who was simply trying to do his job.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and either witnessed the incident, or who recognises the person pictured and described, to please get in touch with us.

“I would also ask any motorists with dashcams who were in the area at the time to please check their footage in case they may have captured anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 667 of 20 November 2023. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
