Ruddington Parish Council is calling on residents to help shape the future of a brand-new, state-of-the-art community centre on the Village Green.

As Ruddington continues to grow, the village’s existing facilities—St Peter’s Rooms and the Village Hall—are struggling to keep up with demand. To address this, the Council has acquired land from Nottinghamshire County Council and is moving forward with plans to create a modern, multi-purpose hub at the heart of the community.

Recognising the need for a more spacious and adaptable facility, the Parish Council established a working group in 2020 to ensure the new centre meets the evolving needs of local residents. Stephanie Palmer, Chair of the Community Centre Working Party and Vice-Chair of the Council, shared her enthusiasm for the project:

“We’re excited to bring this vision to life. This community centre will be much more than just a meeting place—it will serve as a hub for learning, collaboration, and connection, leaving a lasting impact on our village.”

The project is being supported by Welham Architects and Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire, with plans to include performance and meeting spaces, office facilities, a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor parking with bike racks, and a community garden.

In late 2020, over 475 residents contributed their thoughts through a survey, helping to shape the initial plans for a two-storey facility. However, with changes in community needs following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council is now seeking further input to refine the final design.

How You Can Get Involved:

  • Share your thoughts in person: Visit the Ruddington Village Market on Saturday, 1 March, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
  • Explore the plans: Stop by St Peter’s Rooms on Saturday, 29 March, and Saturday, 12 April, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm to view detailed designs and the architect’s model.
  • Take the survey: It only takes 10 minutes! Both events will feature the proposed plans, with members of the design team available to discuss the project and provide funding updates.
