A new immersive zombie experience is set to open near Beeston next month.
In July, an application on behalf of a company called Zombie Infection Ltd was submitted to Broxtowe Borough Council to change the use of warehouse at Chilwell Meadows Business Park into a new attraction.
The authority has now approved this change and the company is set to open its new location off Tissington Close from October 10.
The team at Zombie Infections have been offering what officials describe as in-person zombie experiences since 2018, and the new spot will act as one of its Zombie Checkpoint locations.
The experiences, referred to as story-driven ‘missions’, involve the use of live actors, with cinematic environments, the use of realistic fake weapons and interactive objects designed to create the concept based around abandoned sites – such as prisons, factories, shopping centres, military forts and also forests.
Participants will have to work their way through the ‘infected’ to help secure the facility from zombie infection spreading.
Each session can accommodate up to 20 participants at any one time, where those visiting will have to pre-book their slot through the company’s website.
Two full-time company directors are expected to be employed as well as between 15 to 20 operational staff who will mainly work on flexible or zero-hour contracts.
The zombie experience will run between 5pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday, 5pm until 11pm on Fridays, 9am until 11pm on Saturdays and between 9am until 9pm on Sundays.
