Jail for man whose victim suffered brain injury in brutal attack


A 28-year-old man has been jailed for 11 years following an incident in Nottingham.

Jonathon Shutler of Southey Street, Nottingham was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 11 September 2019 after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to section 18GBH.

He was given an eight year custodial sentence with three years to be spent on extended license.

The incident happened on the evening of 6 April 2019 where the male victim was stamped on the back of his head numerous times by Shutler inside 47 Southey Street following an argument.

The victim spent 11 days in hospital after he suffered a brain injury and facial fractures.

Detective Constable Rory Greer said: “This was a particularly nasty assault and the victim was extremely lucky not to have suffered more life altering injuries.

“We are pleased with the result that shows that there are serious consequences for these types of assaults.”
