Jail for Nottingham bus driver who raped 14-year-old girl

A man who joked about being double his victim’s age before raping her has been jailed for ten-and-a-half-years.

Jermaine Collishaw, from Basford, was found guilty yesterday (12 April) at Nottingham Crown Court following a four-day trial.

The jury heard that on 14 May 2017 Collishaw picked up the vulnerable girl and her friend, bought them alcohol and drove them around in his car.

Later that evening, he dropped her friend off at her house after she became unwell. He told the 14-year-old he would also take her home after he had collected something from a hotel room.

Once at the hotel she went inside to use the toilet, before being attacked. The court heard how the 29-year-old bus driver became angry after attacking the teenager and then left her in the hotel room.

When officers subsequently arrested him they found a quantity of Class A drugs, scales, deal bags, cash and two knuckle dusters inside his car and house. He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply prior to the trial.

Collishaw was jailed for nine years after being found guilty of rape. He was then given a further 18 months to run consecutively for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and four months to run concurrently for possession of two offensive weapons.

Detective Sergeant Paul Lefford said: “I would like to pay tribute to the strength of the victim in this case who was put through the ordeal of having to give evidence during the trial due to Collishaw pleading not guilty.

“I hope the sentence today gives her some closure and allows her to spend the rest of her teenage years, just being a teenager.

“Collishaw knew how young she was; he even joked about being double her age. He’s a dangerous predator that used alcohol to ensure his victim was in a vulnerable state and I’m happy he will be behind bars for a long time.”
