Rushcliffe MP James Naish has announced the winners and runners-up of his England football T-shirt design competition, which received dozens of fantastic entries from pupils across the constituency.
Launched ahead of England’s international fixture at the City Ground, the competition asked children to design a new England shirt and explain the thinking behind their design. The response was brilliant – and judging proved no easy task.
After much deliberation, two winners were chosen: Dylan from South Wolds Academy in Keyworth and Albie from Radcliffe-on-Trent Infants. Both stood out not just for their bold and imaginative designs, but for the way they described what their shirts meant and why they chose the elements they did. They’re prize was two tickets each to see the England v Senegal match at the City Ground on Tuesday night.
Dylan and Albie also appeared on BBC Radio Nottingham this week to talk about their designs – and did an excellent job speaking about their work live on air.
Two impressive runners-up – Mikey from Rushcliffe Spencer Academy and Joshua from Jesse Gray Primary – will each receive an official England shirt. James said he was really pleased to be able to offer runner-up prizes too, given the high standard across the board.
James Naish said:
“We had some amazing entries colourful, thoughtful, and full of personality. Choosing just four wasn’t easy, and I want to say a big thank you to every young person who took part. Dylan, Albie, Mikey and Joshua should be really proud of themselves.”
The competition gave children across Rushcliffe a chance to get involved in the excitement of England’s match and showcase their imagination through sport and design.
