Joint investigation launched after woman seriously injured in house fire overnight

A joint investigation has been launched after a woman has been seriously injured, following a house fire in Newark on Trent.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Eton Court at around 1:27 am today (15 December 2021).

Three crews from Newark and Collingham fire stations attended, and used breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire and rescue the woman.

Tom Archer, Group Manager at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “this incident reminds us all of the devastating consequences of fire. Our advice to everyone is to make sure you have working smoke alarms and that everyone in your home knows what to do in the event of a fire.

“Our thoughts are with the individual’s family and friends during this time.
