The fifth stage of The Tour of Britain national cycling race is only two weeks away and cycling fans, residents and businesses are eager to celebrate the prestigious sporting event as it returns to the Borough on Thursday September 8.
All the latest information including an interactive map, where to watch the race, arrival times in each community and associated rolling road closures can be found here: Tour of Britain: Timings for each Rushcliffe town or village and rolling road blocks
Anyone seeking support on how their community can welcome the race should email media@rushcliffe.gov.uk
The race starts on Central Avenue at 10.45am with pre-race entertainment from 9am as the atmosphere builds to give a warm Rushcliffe reception for stage 5 of the race.
The race will continue through Compton Acres, Ruddington, Bradmore, Bunny, East Leake, Costock, Wysall, Keyworth, Plumtree, Normanton on the Wolds, Tollerton, Cotgrave, Cropwell Bishop, Cropwell Butler, Radcliffe on Trent and Shelford before finishing in Mansfield.
It is the third time the showpiece event has taken place in the county and is in conjunction with Rushcliffe Borough Council, the Tour, Nottinghamshire County Council, Mansfield District Council and other local authorities and follows the hugely successful staging of the race in 2017 and 2018.
The 190km route, approximately 118 miles, will attract a global television audience of millions and will again be aired live on ITV4.
In 2018 the Nottinghamshire stage attracted 250,000 spectators to make it the largest sporting event in the county’s history, leading to our area enjoying an economic boost of £3.9 million being spent by participants and spectators on accommodation, food and drink and shopping.
Businesses in central West Bridgford near the race start line and across the Borough are embracing the spirit of the event with posters, banners and decorations now set to highlight the event in the remaining days before the event.
