- Affordable rentable office space to support small or start-up local businesses.
Cllr Neil Doherty, Chair of Kimberley Town Council said:
“The Kimberley Levelling Up Fund gives us a once in a lifetime opportunity to deliver a brand-new community & business hub with 8 new offices, a 128 sqm function room and a separate 55 sqm multi-use space on the site of the existing Parish Hall.
‘The current hall is nearing the end of its life and no longer best serves the community, and the plans approved by Broxtowe Borough Council will deliver a green, modern statement building that will serve the needs of Kimberley residents and local businesses for years to come.
“Getting to this stage has involved a lot of hard work but we’re confident the end result will be something all our residents can all be proud of. This project represents a sizeable inward investment for the town and is recognised by national government in Westminster as the important role that Kimberley plays in the region. ”
Cllr Trevor Rood, Vice-Chairman of Kimberley Town Council said:
“This new building will be a brilliant addition to Kimberley, and we look forward to being able to offer a brilliant function room for wedding receptions where newly married couples can celebrate their union in style.
“This new room, paired with the Grade 2 Listed Chapel on the Hill will make the perfect wedding package for local couples. This is a regeneration project which will help to attract and nurture local businesses as well as providing valuable high-quality amenity spaces for the community. ”
Cllr Sam Boneham, Chairman of the Events Committee, Chairman of the Estates and Environment Committee said:
“From an events perspective, this new building offers a wealth of opportunities for this council to continue to provide quality community events for the residents of Kimberley, we are excited for what future events will look like. It’s a real game-changer for Kimberley Town Council’s Event Committee. It will also offer other event organisers within the community a brilliant setting for any future events.
“From the point of view of the Estates and Environment Committee we are pleased that it will be highly energy efficient including solar panels and well-insulated to reduce heat loss in winter. The biodiversity in this urban location will be enhanced including a green roof.
“We are also really pleased that Julian Owen Associates Architects have created a stunning new building that not only makes a statement on the street scene, but also sits comfortably within it. The building respects its context and surroundings, using traditional materials with a contemporary twist.”
