Kimberley – A dispersal order introduced to prevent and reduce antisocial behaviour in Kimberley has been extended.
Initially put in place from 4pm yesterday (Thursday, 7 November) until midnight, the order allows police to move people away from parts of Kimberley and, in the case of under-16s, return them to their homes to prevent alarm, harassment, and distress to others.
Anyone who fails to leave when directed can be arrested.
The order covers Main Street, Newdigate Street, Noel Street, Broomhill Road, Greens Lane, Regent Street, James Street, Chapter Drive, and High Street.
No issues were reported last night, and the order has now been extended until midnight on Sunday (10 November).
Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Simon Boyles said:
“Over the last two weeks, we have received reports of antisocial behaviour, criminal damage, and violence in the Main Street area, as well as disorder taking place around the car park area at the rear of Sainsbury’s and the council car park in Greens Lane.
“This order is a preventative tool, giving us additional powers to prevent, deter, and reduce any disorder and to move people on if they are causing any issues in these areas.
“We are continuing to take this antisocial behaviour seriously, and we will authorise further dispersal orders to protect our communities if we feel this is necessary.
“Our proactive patrols will continue, and I want to reassure members of the public that we will take appropriate action against individuals who cause safety concerns and misery for local people and businesses.”
