Mango the kitten had been stuck 15 metres up a tree for hours.
Mango decided to climb the 15-metre high tree in the garden of a West Bridgford home in Ellesmere Road.
He was crying and stuck there for hours – the fire service and RSPCA don’t respond to calls for help in these situations until 24 hours has elapsed – the thinking is that the cat will make its way down one way or another – but Mango didn’t.
In desperation, the owners called a few tree surgeons on the off-chance that someone may help.
After a few phone calls, one man who said he hadn’t been up a tree for years answered and said he’d help because his business was very quiet!
Martin Page of Charnwood Tree Services arrived with his harness and a set of two ladders and with determination rescued Mango!
He didn’t accept a penny in payment for the work.
Mango is now safe and well!
