Police have seized drugs, cash and a large stash of knives after pulling over a car which was suspected to be involved in a drug deal.
Officers from the Nottingham South Operation Reacher team made the stop while on proactive patrols in Kentwood Road, Sneinton, on Sunday (27 November 2022).
The car, which intelligence showed was known to police, was intercepted nearby at around 8 pm.
When they searched the vehicle, officers found large quantities of cannabis, mobile phones, cash and hundreds of and other intelligence related to suspected drug dealing.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and officers then carried out a search of his home.
Here they found a number of knives which have been seized and will be destroyed.
Sergeant Tim Register, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This is another great result for Operation Reacher in the Nottingham South area and it is really pleasing to be taking drugs and dangerous weapons off the streets.
“Intelligence painstakingly gained over many months revealed this vehicle was suspected to be involved in criminality. We acted on this and were able to detain a suspect and successfully recover the drugs.
“A search of a property then revealed a stash of knives. We are determined to keep potentially lethal weapons like this off the streets and out of the hands of offenders.”
Inspector Karl Thomas, district commander for Nottingham South, said:
“This was an excellent piece of policing by the Operation Reacher team, which continues to make a real difference to people’s lives across our communities.
“Targeting drug dealers is one of our beat priorities because they continue to blight the neighbourhoods we serve.
“Tackling knife crime is also very much an ongoing challenge for us as we continue to take blades off the streets and educate people on the dangers of carrying them.”
