Lady Bay’s first ever boxing club opened its doors last week.
The club is operated by experienced coaches Samuel Varley and Stuart Varley.
It’s held at Lady Bay Scout Hut on Mona Road.
It opens on Monday evenings from 5 pm to 7 pm with two one-hour sessions.
Its aim is to bring a new sport to the area and create a community that can get fit together and have fun.

Micheal Andrew Varley, better known as Mick Varley, boxed out of Clifton abc in the 1950s and 1960s.
Mick had an illustrious boxing career, competing in over 170 bouts over the years.
His success in the amateur scene saw him win the ABA welter weight title and he was chosen to captain the Olympic boxing team in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics!
He fought exceptionally well and was only stopped in the penultimate rounds of the competition, finishing 4th.
Mick was welcomed home as a hero in the Nottingham community and his accolades gave him the chance to visit Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and visit 10 Downing Street.
Once the dust had settled on his fantastic achievements, Mick decided to retire and focus his attention on the local community.
Here he became a successful boxing coach teaching school boy champions and future professionals.
Mick lived in the lady bay area for nearly 60 years of his life before sadly passing away in 2018.
Sam and Stuart therefore decided it would be a great tribute to their late Grandad and hero to restart a boxing club in his honour.
