Large cannabis grow found in Sneinton property

Police recovered a large haul of illegal drugs after being called to a disturbance in a Nottingham street.
Officers were called to an incident in Sneinton Dale at about 2am on Tuesday morning after a car was reported to have been stolen.

A suspect then drove off in the car but was soon spotted by officers on Loughborough Avenue.

A 25-year-old man was chased a short distance on foot and arrested.

A subsequent search of an address in Loughborough Avenue revealed a large cannabis grow spread over multiple floors of a house.

The drugs have since been removed, and a large amount of growing equipment put beyond use.

The suspect was then further arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity without authority.

Detective Sergeant Al Prentice, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Industrial cannabis grows of this nature are often linked to organised criminal gangs from home and abroad and can also pose a significant fire danger to neighbouring properties.

“That’s why it’s so important for us to identify and close them down. Members of the public can help us in this regard by informing us of suspicious activities in their street.”
Anyone with additional information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 33 of 15 October 2024.

•  Hyson Green property closed down because of alleged drug dealing and ASB
