Large quantity of Class A drugs discovered in M1 car stop

Police recovered a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs after pulling over a car on the M1.

Officers stopped the vehicle at Trowell Services at around 5.50pm on Friday afternoon after becoming suspicious.

Inside they found a significant quantity of cash, and a large amount of cocaine and heroin.

The car was seized and investigations are ongoing.

Tanveer Khan, aged 34, has been charged with two counts of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply and possessing criminal property.

Khan, of Highfield Place, Bradford, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Monday).

Detective Constable Chris Archer, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a great bit of work by the officers involved.

“Their actions led to the recovery of a very large amount of Class A drugs and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect. Our investigation will now continue.”
