‘Large quantity’ of cocaine discovered after police stop car

Two men were arrested a large quantity of illegal drugs seized after a car was stopped by police.

Officers acting on intelligence pulled over a car on Great North Road, Newark, shortly before 2.10pm yesterday (Friday) afternoon.

After searching the driver and passenger, cannabis, mobile phones and a large quantity of cash were recovered.

A subsequent search of a nearby property led to the discovery of a large quantity of what is believed to be cocaine.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

Both remain in police custody.

Inspector Kylie Davies, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a great bit of work by our traffic officers that led to a large quantity of illegal drugs being seized.

“We are constantly on the lookout for vehicles we believe may be involved in crime and are working every day to ensure that people using our roads network for criminal purposes are made to pay a very heavy price.”
