Latest: Heavy rain floods various routes across EMR train services – delays all day

Heavy rain has flooded the railway on various routes on the East Midlands Railway network.

18:00 – 6 January 2025

Heavy rain has flooded the railway at Draycott. This is between Derby and Long Eaton and is currently affecting trains on the following routes:

  • Sheffield/Nottingham/London
  • Newark/Nottingham/Derby/Crewe
  • Matlock/Derby/Nottingham

Network Rail are monitoring the water level at the site.

Flooding is also affecting one of our diversionary routes, affecting some late night and early morning services.

How does this affect my train?

Trains across all affected routes are experiencing delays and cancellations. We are working closely with Network Rail and continually reviewing our train service.

At present we are expecting to run a reduced timetable across the affected routes for the remainder of the day. As we will be operating a reduced timetable, we will have limited capacity on the trains that we are able to run. Services may be busier than usual, we strongly advise you to check your full journey before attempting to travel: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

Trains between Sheffield and London St Pancras are running between Sheffield and Derby only. Trains between Derby and London St Pancras are not able to run.
