A group of three-year-olds swapped jokes with residents when they visited their neighbours at an Edwalton care home.
Residents at Edwalton Manor Care Home spent the afternoon ‘in stitches’ when the children from Busy Bees nursery stopped by.
The nursery and home are neighbours in Landmere Lane – and the team at the care home thought it would be a wonderful idea to bring a little comic relief to the residents and invite the children to celebrate National Tell a Joke Day.
And it seems the old adage ‘laughter is the best medicine’ could well be true as there were smiles all round.
Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coordinator Alice Kirkby said that the afternoon had been a roaring success and both the residents and children as well as staff had a lot of fun.
She said: “We all had a good laugh; the children were lovely and very happy to speak up and have a good giggle with us.
“It is very important to us at Edwalton that we build these community links and Busy Bees is such a lovely place and we are lucky to have such wonderful neighbours.”
Edwalton resident Barbara Maddock aged 88, said she was delighted to see the children who brought so much cheer.
She said: “Who doesn’t love a good old joke, and to hear jokes from the children, who have a wonderful sense of humour was such fun.”
Fellow resident Chris King, aged 66, said: “We always told jokes to one another as children and the afternoon brought back some lovely memories of those days.”
