Leahurst Road pre-school in West Bridgford launches fundraiser to ensure the facility survives

The pre-school has suffered with reduced numbers because of the pandemic.

The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic has, like many other pre-school settings, impacted us greatly as families in the community have been faced with huge amounts of uncertainty.

As a result, a significantly lower number of children have attended the pre-school this year.

On the back of a tough few years of underfunding of the early years sector, we’ve been left with insufficient money to offer the enhanced and enrichment activities that our children thrive on. COVID-19 has hit us hard at an already difficult time.

We simply cannot survive long-term without additional fundraising and funding.  We feel passionate about the service we want to provide the children of our local community; we want to be able to offer those children who have additional needs the care and support they are entitled to.

We want to raise £10,000.  This will be a huge help to us to help us overcome our short-term financial challenges and help us to provide the services we want to continue to provide for our community.  This maybe in providing necessary staffing resources, replacing some of our equipment with more natural resources and also expand and replace some of outdoor equipment.

Families and friends of pre-school have been invited to embark on a sponsored virtual challenge to reach Kenya by walking, running, biking, scooting etc over the next few weeks, with plenty of stop offs at interesting places upon the way.  Past families and friends of pre-school are welcome to come and join us on our challenge in a bid to raise some much-needed funds for pre-school.  Simply add up your family miles at the end of each week (from now until Friday 16^th April) and email them to us at Leahurstroad@ntlworld.com.

We have launched our very own crowdfunding page as a platform either to donate sponsor money raised or simply, receive donations.  Whether we receive one-off donations or as a response to our fund-raising activity, we will appreciate every single penny that is raised.

West Bridgford South County Councillor Jonathan Wheeler added his support to the pre-school, he said: “Leahurst Road pre-school is a wonderful facility, which I have had the privilege of visiting a few times and meeting the team. If you can support the school with a donation, this would be very much appreciated.”
