Lenton: Suspected drug dealers arrested after car stopped

Police officers seized a large amount of cannabis and arrested two suspected drug dealers when they stopped a car in Nottingham.

Plain-clothed police officers from the City Knife Crime Team were on patrol in Harrington Drive, Lenton, Nottingham, when they saw what they thought was a suspected drug deal taking place between two men in a car and a person on foot.

Officers then stopped the car nearby and searched it at around 7 pm on Thursday 22 February.

They noticed a strong smell of cannabis and discovered bags of the Class B drug inside the vehicle.

Officers also recovered a large amount of cash and several mobile phones during searches.

Two men, both aged 22, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Police Constable Ken Tinley, of the City Knife Crime Team, said:

“It is always a good result when we can seize and destroy drugs and take positive action to disrupt the illegal drugs trade.

“We are always alert on patrol to spot potential drug deals taking place and are in constant contact with other members of the team and our colleagues in other teams to complete vehicle stops like this one.”
