Lidl staff in Nottingham store threatened with a knife in broad daylight

The man made off in a van, but later that evening, the vehicle was spotted by a dog officer.

A man was arrested after he threatened Lidl staff with a knife yesterday.

Officers were called to Lidl in Castle Bridge Road, Nottingham on Wednesday at around 4.45pm following a report of a theft and staff being threatened with a knife.

The man made off in a van, but later that evening, the vehicle was spotted by a dog officer.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Waldram said: “I’d like to thank officers from Operational Support and response teams who worked quickly to find the man after the incident.

“There was a short pursuit by officers before the man abandoned the vehicle and ran off near to the city’s train station.

“A 23-year-old was chased on foot and he was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

“Obviously this is a difficult time for everyone in this current climate, but we do not tolerate key workers being threatened for doing their job.”

He remains in police custody.
