The Prime Minister delivers his daily address.
Essentially the Prime Minister said today that if everyone follows the advice – we’ll beat it together
– Thanks everyone for ‘huge effort’ to comply with coronavirus advice – can see the impact that this is having on the economy and services – it will save ‘literally thousands of lives’
– Timescale of the coronavirus – thinks we can turn the tide in the next twelve weeks – only if we take the steps outlined to reduce the peak
– Today first British patient into a randomised vaccine drug trial
– Testing – In negotiations to buy a simple test ( like a pregnancy test ) to test if you have had the illness – we will buy hundreds of thousands
– Daily testing currently rising ( not the test above ) to test if people do have it
– Meantime – Absolutely vital to follow advice – stay at home if you or family have symptoms – avoid pubs – work from home – wash your hands etc
– This combination of ‘ruthless determined collective action’ and scientific progress we’ll defeat the virus
– Stand by your employees ( to businesses ) we will stand by you – ( more info in few days time ) we will stand by the workers of this country – we’ll make sure we’ll look after the people first – the people who really suffer.
