Live updates: A52 Bingham will remain closed both ways ‘for several more hours’

Road closures are currently in place following a serious police incident on the A52 in Bingham.

The A52 remains CLOSED in both directions between the A46 (Saxondale) & A1 (Grantham) due to the ongoing investigation.

The road is expected to remain closed for several further hours, so please plan ahead of your journey.

The A52 in Nottinghamshire is closed in both directions between the A46 (Saxondale) and the A1 (Grantham) due to a Police led incident near Bingham.

Nottinghamshire Police advise the road is closed in both directions due to a serious incident near Bingham. Police have confirmed investigations are ongoing at scene and the road is expected to remain closed until at least 12:00 on 10th November 2023.

Nottinghamshire Police advise the road is closed in both directions due to a serious incident near Bingham. Police have confirmed investigations are ongoing at scene and the road is expected to remain closed until at least mid afternoon.

Please plan ahead and allow extra journey time if travelling in the area today.

Diversion routes

Road users travelling eastbound are advised to follow the below diversion:

From the A52 Saxondale Island, take the exit onto the A46 and continue north for 21.9km until the roundabout with the A1/A17.
At this roundabout, take the A1 southbound exit and follow the A1 for 23.5km until the A52 junction at Barrowby.
At the top of the slip road rejoin the A52.
Road users travelling westbound are advised to follow the below diversion:

From the A52 junction with the A1, take the northbound entry slip road for the A1 north and continue on the A1 for 23.5km.
Take the exit slip road at Newark and head south on the A46 for 21.9km to re-join the westbound A52 at Saxondale roundabout

The A52 remains CLOSED in both directions between the A46 Saxondale & A1 Grantham due to a police led incident near Bingham.

Police have advised the closure is expected to remain in place until at least mid afternoon.

Traffic flowing well on approach to closures.

The A52 remains CLOSED in both directions between the A46 Saxondale & A1 Grantham due to a police led incident near Bingham.

The road is expected to be closed through to the afternoon.

Allow extra journey time if in the area this morning.


National Highways said:

‘The A52 is CLOSED in both directions between the A46 Saxondale and the A1 Grantham due to a police incident near Bingham

Expect delays if travelling in the area this morning.’

Police said:

‘Please avoid the A52 Bingham Bypass, between Grantham Road and Tithby Road, which will remain closed for some time.

‘Traffic will be diverted through Bingham Town Centre while the closures are in place, and this will be clearly signposted.’


AA Roadwatch said:

‘Road closed and heavy traffic due to police incident on A52 both ways from Bingham turn off to A1 (Grantham North / Barrowby Turn Off). Detour in operation – via the A46 Fosse Way to Newark on Trent and the A1 Foston Bypass.’
