Please don’t turn your vehicle unless you’re instructed to do so by a Traffic or Police Officer, as this will delay reopening the lanes.

NH 7:18 pm

‘Vehicles continue to be turned within the M1 southbound closure.

Due to the volume and sizes of vehicles caught within the closure, this is a complex process and does take time.

Nottingham City Transport 3:49 pm

The M1 has been closed at J26 northbound, which is leading to traffic queuing from the junction back along A610, up to and including A6002 and Low Wood Rd. Surrounding roads that lead up to Nuthall Island are also affected and this is delaying 35 (36) 68-71 and 77-78-79/A

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service:

‘We are currently dealing with a fire involving a car transporter on the M1 South between Junction 26 and 27.

‘Both carriageways are closed.

‘There is a large smoke plume and heavy traffic so please avoid the area.

We expect to be there for some time.’

Nottingham Travelwise 3:27 pm

‘Due to the vehicle fire between J26-7 on the M1 there is queuing on the A610 outbound and A6002 in both directions from Nuthall Roundabout.

‘Emergency services are on scene.

‘Please use an alternative route at this time.’
