11:13 am Anthony May replies: “I wrote to all members of the trust when I took up the post and explained my position on bullying and harassment.
“I’ve been meeting colleagues from the BAME workforce and they have told me how it is to work at NUH”
11:12 am Chair of the committee Cllr Georgia Power says “I’m a little bit surprised in the papers nobody mentioned racism. To me, that’s one of the biggest concerns the CQC raised”
10:39 am Mr May replies: “I think I’ve got a good sense of the organisation and if I hear concerns I listen and follow it up.
“My first meeting at 8.15 this morning was with a midwife who is leaving and wanted to talk to me.”
10:36 am Cllr Maria Joannou asks Anthony May: “Are you working with midwives with what they think needs to change? “When I’ve spoken to people they don’t feel they are being listened to in any way shape or form”
10:22 am Amanda Sullivan adds: “The trust was underreporting the serious incidents so things that were happening weren’t getting full oversight.
“I do feel the transparency and reporting is in a much better place now than it was”
Anthony May adds: “We are subject to a review by Donna Ockenden in maternity services as well. We’ve got a lot going on here.”
– Nottingham Hospitals leaders are addressing issues raised by the CQC after the trust was rated inadequate for how ‘well led’ it was in July 2021.
